Here’s What We’re Working On Next!

The Homeschool Records Solution / Toolkit
How to Craft Homeschool Transcripts and Comprehensive Records for College Admission and Scholarships
The long awaited update for “Setting the Records Straight” is here! The Homeschool Records Solution shows homeschool parents how to turn four years of coursework into a comprehensive records package that colleges and scholarship committees take seriously. Written by Lee Binz, The HomeScholar, the book draws on the system she built for her own two sons, a system that led to $440,000 in scholarship offers, including two full-tuition awards. It walks parents through building a transcript, writing course descriptions for every subject, documenting outside classes and activities, and assembling a package that presents a homeschool education clearly and professionally, even for families who are starting the process late or feel behind. The companion Homeschool Records Solution Toolkit puts that teaching to work with ready-to-use templates for transcripts, course descriptions, reading lists, activities and awards, school profiles, cover letters, and letters of recommendation, along with a library of real sample documents to build from. Together, the book and toolkit give parents a complete, step-by-step path to a records package that helps their student stand out.

The College Launch Solution / Toolkit
Homeschool Secrets to Help Students Launch and Parents Let Go
The College Launch Solution walks homeschool families through the season most books skip: the final summer before college, move-in day, freshman year, and the empty nest that follows. Lee Binz draws on her own family’s experience sending two homeschooled sons to college on full scholarships, covering the logistics of the transition alongside the harder parts — letting go, the identity questions students face, faith under pressure, and the grief parents don’t expect to feel once the house goes quiet. Matt Binz adds a father’s perspective throughout, with sidebar boxes on the financial and practical side of launching a student well. The companion College Launch Solution Toolkit puts the book’s frameworks to work with twenty-six worksheets, checklists, and conversation guides, from a senior-year launch checklist to a four-year degree planning template, so parents and students can walk through the transition together instead of guessing their way through it.

Practical guides for transcripts, college applications, and homeschooling high school
About HomeScholar Press
HomeScholar Press was founded by Lee and Matt Binz, creators of The HomeScholar. After successfully homeschooling our own two boys from third grade through high school graduation — and helping them earn full-tuition scholarships to their first-choice universities — we started The HomeScholar in 2007 and shortly thereafter started writing books to help other families do the same.
What started as a few guides for friends has grown into a complete library of practical, encouraging resources for homeschool parents. If you’re staring at your homeschooling ‘tween or teen and thinking, “how will I ever do this?” — regardless of whether “this” is high school planning, transcripts, or college applications — you’re in the right place.
We believe college admission and homeschool record-keeping shouldn’t be scary or overwhelming. With the right tools, you can help your student stand out and succeed.
Our Mission
To give homeschool families confidence for high school and beyond through thoughtful, practical books and freebies. No fluff. No fear. Just the help you need, when you need it.
Meet Lee Binz
Lee is a retired homeschool speaker, consultant, and the author of 40+ books on homeschooling high school. She’s an expert on homeschooling high school who has helped thousands of families navigate transcripts, course descriptions, and college admission. When she’s not writing, she’s probably drinking coffee, planning a camping trip, creating memories with her children and grandchildren, and quoting The Princess Bride.
Meet Matt Binz
Matt is a retired Boeing engineering manager and the technical mind behind The HomeScholar. Now he’s spending retirement in creative endeavors: painting with acrylics, playing the ukulele and tongue drum, and co-authoring new books with Lee. Lots and lots of books.
Our Journey Here
With our retirement from The HomeScholar in 2023 and the subsequent closure by the new owners, we knew Lee’s books and expertise could fill the gap — and provide the resources homeschool families still needed. Matt created HomeScholar Press as a permanent home for Lee’s existing library and the new books we’re writing together.
Our new Solution Books and Toolkits are designed to replace and build on what The HomeScholar offered — but go further. By pairing in-depth book content with ready-to-use Toolkits, we’re building a more comprehensive and affordable library of tools, templates, and step-by-step guidance than was ever available before.
Whether you need help with homeschool transcripts, college admission, scholarships, technology boundaries, or the faith and encouragement to keep going — you’ll find practical, proven solutions here. Written by homeschoolers, for homeschoolers.
HomeScholar Press is a different type of business. There are no emails, no memberships, no opt-ins, no social media, and no ads that follow you around. We’re just here to offer print solutions for the problems you face homeschooling through middle school and high school.
This is a simple website. Every book link takes you directly to Amazon. You’ll never need to give us your credit card or personal information. We hope this approach gives you peace of mind and an easy way to get the answers you’re seeking.
What Parents Say
“The prospect of homeschooling high school IS scary, but looking back, the blessing of intimacy I now share with my daughter was worth it. Thank you for helping me to feel the fear and do it anyway!”
— Traci, California
“I had a friend, who worked in college admissions for years, peek at the transcript I wrote with your tips. ‘You made this?!?! This is incredible! One of the best homeschool transcripts I have seen.’ My son got into his first choice college with a full tuition scholarship up to $240k.”
— Rachel, WA
“When we received the financial package I couldn’t wait to tell my husband that I had just made $200,000. My son is heading to the college of his choice with full tuition paid for four years. All because you showed me how to do the hard things well.”
— Tamie, Washington
